How To Apply For A T. Howard Internship

To apply for a T. Howard internship you must submit some documents online and others via standard US mail. There are five components to a complete application:

    1. Official transcript (Submitted by mail only)

    2. Official Letter of Recommendation (Submitted by mail only)

    3. Resume (Submitted online only)

    4. Essay (Submitted online only)

    5. Online Application Form (Submitted online only)

Here is how we suggest you approach the application process:

1. OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT

    • Request an official transcript be sent to our office from your campus registration and records office. The Foundation’s address is as follows:

2. LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

    • Ask for a letter of recommendation from a professor, academic advisor, former employer, volunteer supervisor, community leader or person of authority who can speak to your work ethic and/or personal character.

    • The 2008 Letter of Recommendation guidelines can be accessed by clicking here . Print this form, write your name in the space provided and give a copy to the individual who will be writing your letter.

3. RESUME

    • Update your resume and prepare to upload later. We recommend utilizing your campus career services center to assist with resume writing and formatting. Resumes should be kept to ONE-PAGE and in MS Word format. It should also list your accurate contact information AND any computer skills you possess.

 

    • Please see the below sample resumes and use them as a guideline for your resume – our application process and internships are very competitive and your resume is an important document for both.

4. ESSAY

    • Draft an essay and prepare to upload later. Essay questions and formatting specs can be accessed by clicking here.

    • Failure to follow these instructions will result in point deduction on your application for a paid internship through the Foundation.

 

5. ONLINE APPLICATION FORM

    • When your resume and essay are complete return to this page and scroll to the bottom where it says “Are You Ready To Apply?”

    • You will need to create a user name and password to establish a profile with our online application system. Be sure to write down your username and password in a safe place. The T. Howard Foundation DOES NOT collect or have access to your login information. If you forget your username and password we cannot provide it to you.

    • Complete the online application form and upload your resume and essay when prompted to do so.

A completed application is one that has your online application form, resume, essay, official transcript and official letter of recommendation. You will receive confirmation via email that all required materials have been received.

We recommend that you check your email and voice mail regularly after applying in order to receive communications from the Foundation. You may also inquire about the status of your application via email at info@t-howard.org.
