How Our Internship Program Works

What is the T. Howard Foundation?

The T. Howard Foundation’s mission is to increase diversity in the multimedia and entertainment industry workforce. Students who become T. Howard interns are placed at major media companies that partner with the Foundation in support of our mission. A few of those partners include Comcast, DIRECTV, Discovery, ESPN, FOX, HBO, Intelsat, Lifetime, MTV, NBC Universal, Rainbow Media, Showtime, Time Warner Cable, and Turner Network Sales. Participating companies partner with the T. Howard Foundation to select and host interns.

There are two phases to the application review process:

Phase I - A review of your resume, essay, official transcript, and official letter of recommendation. ONLY applicants who successfully pass Phase I will move to Phase II.

Phase II - A phone interview.

Applicants who pass both phases are placed in our Final Talent Pool which means that you are eligible for placement as a T. Howard intern with one of our industry partners. Placement is not guaranteed.

Getting Placed as a T. Howard Intern

When our Host Company (HC) industry partners submit requests for interns, we cross reference their request with our final talent pool. If your profile and skills match the needs of the HC’s request, your resume will be sent to that company for review. Once a HC has your resume they decide whether or not they want to call you for an interview. The Host Company decides which students they will take as interns, not the T. Howard Foundation.
