T. Howard Foundation Intern Request and Placement Process

Step One – Beginning in January of each year Host Companies submit intern requests to the T. Howard Foundation.  These requests contain information about internship location, the duties, required skills, preferred academic majors, and GPA.

Step Two–The Foundation staff cross references the Host Company criteria with the resumes of students in the talent pool. If there are matches then the T. Howard Foundation sends resumes to the Host Company for review. Host companies also have the option of allowing the T. Howard Foundation to select their intern.

Step Three – Once a Host Company reviews resumes provided by the Foundation it is up to them to decide which applicants will be called for interviews.  Some interviews are over the phone while some companies require in-person interviews with the student.  Again, if a Host Company prefers to dispense with these tasks they have the option of allowing the T. Howard Foundation select their intern based on the criteria provided.

Step Four–After a Host Company interviews its candidates, it will notify the T. Howard Foundation of its selection. The Foundation confirms the selection and then notifies the student. The Host Company and student then communicate directly about a start date.

Step Five – Students attend a 2-day orientation before beginning their internships
